UWS is proud to recognise the achievements of our staff who have received Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC) Awards for Teaching Excellence.
Assessment
UWS is implementing criteria and standards-based assessment in 2009-2010 to clarify assessment expectations to students. The Teaching Development Unit is supporting School and program academics to develop criteria and standards for assessment tasks through the provision of an Assessment Guide, workshops, and online modules.
E-Learning
UWS is committed to enriching learning opportunities for students through the provision of online learning resources and activities which complement face-to-face learning contexts. The University's commitment to consistency and quality of e-learning sites is expressed through the innovative E-Learning Quality Framework which is currently being implemented by Schools, with support from the Teaching Development Unit.
Teaching Practice
The University of Western Sydney is committed to excellence in teaching practice through continuing professional development for full-time, part-time and sessional staff. Our Foundations in University Learning and Teaching program supports teaching staff in student-focused teaching, constructive alignment and reflective practice.
Scholarship of Learning & Teaching
University of Western Sydney staff actively participate in research into student learning and share their results through publications, presentations and papers. Recent publications by our staff include Turnaround Leadership for Higher Education by UWS Professor Geoff Scott and Emeritus Professor Michael Fullan from the University of Toronto.

Associate Professor Roy Tasker named Australian University Teacher of the Year
The University of Western Sydney has continued its record of success at the Australian Learning and Teaching Council's 2011 Awards for University Teaching, with Associate Professor Roy Tasker receiving the Prime Minister's Award for Australian University Teacher of the Year.
